RELIGION WON'T SAVE US

The poor man is in grave danger. In his quest to find better days he only harvests more pain, tears and suffering. There is no end for the cries of the poor man, society won’t socialize with him, the economy has taken every last cent he owned, politics has destroyed his honesty and religion has betrayed his faith. But whose fault is it really that every person seems to be taking advantage of the poor man, who made him poor, why should he believe and where should he turn to at this moment?
When society, politics and the economy has failed us, the only place that we run for shelter is to Religion. It is easy for us to be able to persist with religion because some of its scriptures seems to have already predicted our troubles and may at one time seem to understand us more than anyone else. Religion encourages us to be patient and to persevere when we are in need and want. However, this reason becomes a weapon for many church leaders (Prophets and Pastors) to enslave the poor man.
When people need answers they look for them everywhere in every corner of this world, they leave no single stone unturned until they have what they require. So many times we tend to persist with our leaders in economics, politics and society, no matter how many times they let us down we always hope that tomorrow will be a different story to tell. At this point, we then run to church institutions to get answers on questions like why we have worked hard but yet we are still poor. Religion seems to give us answers but does it really? The prophets seem to know everything but do they really? So what should we do? Where should we run to? Who should we consult?
People expect the church to save them from their oppressors, economic hardships and from bad neighbors. We turn to these institutions, pray and hope to “receive” a miracle from God; this is how a child should be thinking not a normal adult. An adult person should be able to plan and see how best they can make it work even if the economy is struggling to stabilize; we should all be innovative and construct a path out of poverty. When you are prayed for in a church I believe it’s like you are given more strength to begin the search for a better cause but most believers tends to relax, pray and hope that our God will fall from heaven and tell them all their destinations.
Unless we begin to act on those things that we are continuously praying for, I’m afraid for many of my friends, family and colleagues that we are likely to remain where we are today. If a person wishes to inherit the Kingdom of God, s/he must work towards that goal; every action must show that you know where you want to be. Pray, fasts follow the commandments as the scriptures suggests. If it is a job that you are seeking make sure you send that CV and all the supporting required documents to your target company, no procrastinations. Life is how you make it not how you wish it.
If religion will not save us, then what can? It really is a pity to all who believe that by simply getting on the knees and praying then all the problems will disappear, if not they may multiply. You have to search for you to find, knock and it shall be opened, ask and you will be given. These are the scriptures from the New Testament telling us to make that much needed first step towards what we really want. For you to be able to receive you have to give something first, this is a basic principle to those who knows economics, inputs equals outputs, you reap only what you sow; most of us just wish to receive and abandon the basic principle of economics especially in the today’s Pentecostal churches people love to receive and despise giving. The shouts “I Receive” are very loud and seem very normal. People are expecting a profit without investing capital. I believe if you are a person who loves to receive without giving, you just as equal with a corrupt police officer at a self proclaimed road block intended to steal from poor drivers working hard to get their lives in order.
Conclusion
Surely “Religion will save us” but we have to be willing to make that sacrifice, to give a push when we have been given the strength of patience and perseverance. Take that needed first step towards what you want instead of praying and relaxing like God is going to send His Angels to lead you out of your misery.
