APPEARANCE: The way that someone or something looks. An impression given by someone or something.
DECEIVE: To trick or mislead. One of the most deceiving things in this world is appearance of someone or something.
People are often misled into believing, falling in love, signing contracts, taking unnecessary risks in life simply because of how someone presented a fact. People who do not give appearance a second chance are always rushed into judging, undermining and overlooking things. One of the major problems that humanity is facing is the cause to impress other people with material things,which may lead us into debt and eventually poverty. What really hurts most is we try by all means to impress people who do not even know or care about what we are doing or what we are wearing.
People who come from low class background are forever in a competition with those of higher status. They try by all means to talk, eat, think, act, walk and dress like the rich. "Don't judge a book by its cover". is one of the simple but very powerful statement. The sun appears like a tiny shining stone from a distance hanging in the atmosphere, yet in reality we need it more than one earth to fit into one sun. This is an example of how appearance is very deceiving. Our eyes can only believe what we have seen, therefore you need to research more information about those things that are beyond our sight. Instead of getting an attitude with the headlines, book name or even book cover, get into the story hear and learn what the author is trying to say. That is how you can develop an open mind.
Walk the talk. I've seen people who try to be what they are not, the type that hides emotions behind fake smiles and grumpy faces. They hide their true self from everyone and paint false pictures which in itself is misleading. What you perceive them to be is completely different to what they truly are behind closed doors. Some struggle to buy a rolex watch, iphone 7 but they still go on to buy those expensive gadgets which might bring debt collectors right at their door steps the following morning. Let's just be real and honest with ourselves and save each other from unnecessary competitions.
Below are FIVE simples ways that one can adopt so as to believe in one's self and avoid using any other false APPEARANCE that ends up DECEIVING people of your true self.
BE YOURSELF: Know who you are and what makes you happy rather focusing on other's happiness more than yours. Every action or choice that you make must not be to impress but to progress.
BE OPEN TO PEOPLE: Let the people know who you are truly and give them a chance for that. Enable them to choose if they want to be part of your life. Do not trim yourself to suit others.
BE PROUD OF YOURSELF: Always feel great about yourself. Never undermine your current position whether at work or in the society.
ALWAYS COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS: Look at where you are coming from
and where you are today. Learn to appreciate all the good things that have happened to yourself in life.
DO NOT COMPETE: Unless you are in a race and there is a prize ahead. Live your life at a pace that you can go. "Own your place and dedicate your role to the fate that you'll die alone." (Kendrick Lamar).
